As a likely indication of the struggle of the bird population to survive from and adopt to the loss of their natural habitats in the face of arid urban developments, the tree-covered property (in the heart of Cubao) where the author and his family reside has been frequented by a number of birds over the years. This compound has likewise serendipitously hosted regular bird residents.

Foliage cover is maintained as naturally as possible in the property and architectural footprint had been kept to a minimum to maintain the balance between the needs of man and, crucially, the imperative of nature.

Over time the author has been able to document 20 species within the area and some of these are showcased here.
